Additional Details: Application Deadline: FRIENDLY FIVES WILL NOT BE HELD IN 2008 DUE TO EASTER OCCURRING IN MARCH THIS YEAR.

The second annual spring Friendly Fives For Food Festival, sponsored by the Virginia Rush, is held prior to the start of the spring season. This year's tournament will be on March 17, 2006. It is a one-day, five-a-side tournament benefiting the Foodbank of Southeastern VA. The Friendly Fives For Food Festival will be held at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex and has a slightly different format than its sister tournament, the Fun Fours For Food Festival. The Friendly Fives For Food is a tournament designed solely as a pre-season kick off and as a reminder to our community that the Foodbank of Southeastern VA needs our help more than once a year. All teams are encouraged to participate to give back to our community. Teams compete in the Recreation (U-8 and up) and Travel divisions.

Since the inception of the Fun Fours For Food Festival and now the Friendly Fives For Food, the Virginia Rush has donated TONS and TONS of food and many thousands of dollars to the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia. All participants are encouraged to bring nonperishable or canned food items to donate. Players are also encouraged and given the opportunity to volunteer their time and earn community service hours for their schools by field marshalling, collecting food, and working the tournament.

This tournament is hosted by Virginia Rush to help meet the food needs in our community. Our GOAL is ending hunger in our community!
